Spartans maintain their dominance over Hooperz (69-63)

The re-match was played on16th as scheduled though due to the flash rains was almost postphoned but fortunately the rains receded and the courts dried quickly enof for the games to proceed. Spartans fielded some new players namely Robert(formerly of Kings) and Salum. Let me add this is the second player to join Spartans from Kings as Nyaki also defected from Kings.

Hooperz beefed up their squad with the likes of Mussa(Guard), Godie Magadu (Big forward) and King (Centre) as they had the home courts advantage they came into the game with high expectations. Moreso the home crowd was there to cheer them on.

The home team led all thru till the end of the 3rd quater relying more on penetrating drives and jumpshots from Seeta and Jacob. But some tough defending by the Spartans and fast breaks begun to pay off as we slowly inched our way back into the game and rode to a win.

The final score was 69-63.

Spartans start the year with a victory (48-49)

Spartans on the 9/10/2010 met and clashed horns with the Hooper's from Njiro. Spartans relying more on experience had to pull a few tricks to carry the day.

The Spartan team got 2getha to pull the boots and socks out of the cupboard, blow off the dust and get down and dirty in Spartan gear.

This meet was overshadowed by the foul habits developing in the sport as previous matches were marred by foul mouthing and extreme fouling practices that had resulted in a walk off the court the previous weekend by Hooper's players in a game with the Kings B.Ball Club.

But thankfully good sportsmanship and discipline carried the day. The game was so well received that a rematch was scheduled for the coming weekend this time at the Njiro BB court at the IAA (Hooper's home court).

Spartans pull another surprise move

Oh... my God....we WON...(again I may add)!!

Spartans again met and thrashed Kings Basketball Club in a local tourney organised by Arusha Basketballers and again the organizers went ahead to assume who the winners would be prior to playing the game. Prizes were dished out even before the final whistle ...but lo behold Spartan stepped in to stop this sort of arrogance AGAIN... as expected

And again ...that was before Spartans had to say something about it because in the usual Spartan style the SPARTANs conjured another surprise move (we weren't surprised) that left them again baffled and confused (they neva learn do they). The resulting embarrassment meant the organizers now had to claim there was no winners trophy. And infact tried to convince the public that the winners trophy was a ball that had earlier been announced as the third teams prize...hehehehehe...!!

Well Spartans (for now) are content with the shock on their faces as the final whistle blew....! Stay tuned.

HUUURAHHH!!!

Arusha Basketballers host first ever international tourney

Greetings and opening match
Arusha was chosen to host the 11th edition of the Inter Cities basketball championships of zone 5 for both men and women.

http://basket-in-africa.blogspot.com/2009/01/tanzania-zone-5-inter-cities-arusha-all.html

The games were played from March 24-28 and drew teams from draw teams from the other Tanzanian city (Dar-es-salaam), Uganda (Kampala), Kenya(Nairobi and Mombasa), Somali(Mogadishu) and Zimbabwe(Harare).

The Arusha boys

The host city fielded two teams to maximally optimize the event and were successful enough to reach the quarter finals were they were knocked out by the Ugandan contingent Kampala City Council (K.C.C).
The Ugandans were later also knocked out in the semis by the Dar team and in the second semi Mombasa knocked out Harare's boys. In the finals Dar ladies succumbed to Nairobi city and Dar-es-salaam fought well but eventually lost to Mombasa City in a thrilling final that went into overtime (65-64).

We are the Champions -- 2008

Oh... my God....we WON...!!

Spartans met and thrashed King Basketball Club in an surprise move (we weren't surprised) that left them baffled, confused and thoroughly embarrassed.

In their extreme ignorance and resulting arrogance the Kings went ahead to print T-shirts claiming they were the victors before the match was even played (can you imagine). What are fiasco...they actually think cause they have won previous games that they are the best in Arusha...!?

Well ...that was before Spartans had to say something about it.

HUUURAHHH!!!
